As part of Athens Music Week 2026, the Hellenic Copyright Organization is actively participating in a series of key discussions exploring the intersection of the music industry, copyright, artificial intelligence, and the development of sustainable creative ecosystems.
On May 8, 2026, Eva Moustaka, Legal Counsel at the HCO, takes part in the panel “Innovation and the law: Where to move fast and when to stop”, which examines the boundaries between innovation and licensing in the music industry. The discussion focuses on the challenges raised by generative AI platforms, including the use of training data, the creation of new works, rights attribution, and the commercial exploitation of content within existing copyright frameworks.
On the same day, Maria-Daphne Papadopoulou, Acting Director of the HCO, participates in the roundtable “Structuring music ecosystem: Investment, resilience and cross-sector collaboration”, focusing on building resilient structures for the music sector, strengthening connections with other creative and technology-driven industries, and encouraging investment and collaboration at both national and European level.
On May 9, 2026, Maria G. Sinanidou, Legal Counsel at the HCO, joins Maria-Daphne Papadopoulou in the discussion “AI, copyright and Greece: The rights question no one can avoid”. The session explores current developments in artificial intelligence and copyright law in Greece and across Europe, with particular emphasis on training data, transparency requirements, the evolving European regulatory framework, and the impact of the AI Act on creators and rightsholders.
The presence of the Hellenic Copyright Organization at Athens Music Week 2026 highlights the growing importance of copyright in today’s music and creative industries. At a time when artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and new business models are rapidly reshaping the sector, the HCO contributes actively to the dialogue on creators’ rights, licensing, and the future of a fair and sustainable music ecosystem.
