The HCO at the 15th Digifest 2026: Creation, Copyright & AI

The HCO participated in the 15th Digifest 2026 with two online educational workshops for primary and secondary school students, held on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

In the primary education workshop, titled “The Game of Creation on the Internet,” students explored key concepts of copyright through an interactive approach. Using examples from their everyday online activities, they gained an understanding of what constitutes creation, which works are protected, and how to use digital content responsibly while acknowledging and respecting creators.

The workshop was delivered by Maria G. Sinanidou, Lawyer and Scientific Associate of HCO, and was attended by Information Technology classes from the 1st Primary School of Ierapetra, the 52nd Primary School of Heraklion, and the Primary School of Kalesses.

The secondary education workshop, titled “Content, Copyright & AI,” focused on more advanced issues related to the use and creation of digital content. Students’ questions brought forward topics such as the use of theatrical works in a school context, the use of AI-generated content, the protection of original works uploaded into AI tools, and the rights arising from translations or adaptations of works in the public domain.

The workshop was delivered by Eva Moustaka, Lawyer at HCO, and was attended by Information Technology classes from the 1st Junior High School of Ioannina, the 1st Vocational High School (EPAL) of Kalymnos, the 2nd Junior High School of Galatsi, the Music School of Xanthi, and the Junior High School of Platanias.

The collaboration between HCO and Digifest brings copyright into the classroom, directly linking it to how students create and use content in their daily digital lives. Through real-life examples, students gain a practical understanding of rights and boundaries in contemporary digital creation.
