World Intellectual Property Day – April 26, 2025 “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP!”

This year, World Intellectual Property Day celebrates music, which is much more than just sounds and melodies. It is culture, identity, and expression. Behind every song, there are creators – composers, lyricists, performers, producers – who deserve respect, recognition, and protection for their work. Intellectual property ensures that they can make a living from their art and continue to inspire.

Music permeates every sector of life, and intellectual property strengthens its presence beyond its own realm. From cinema, entertainment, and technology to fashion, video games, and consumer goods, intellectual property rights enhance cross-industry connections with music, enabling creative synergies and innovation that fuel economic growth.

The Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO), in collaboration with the Industrial Property Organization (OBI) and collective management organizations for musical works in Greece – “AUTODIAXEIRISI”, “EDEM ORGANIZATION”, “APOLLON”, “ERATO”, “GRAMMO”, “GEA” – GRAMMO, ERATO, APOLLON – is once again celebrating World Intellectual Property Day, established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with a special event dedicated to music creation and its ecosystem.

The event will take place at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the M. Evert Auditorium. It will focus on the connection between music and intellectual property, with the goal of inspiring and informing the new generation of creators and performers about aspects of music creation and production, the role of performers, the impact of artificial intelligence, new digital experiences, and much more. At the end of the event, there will be a musical surprise!

The event programme will be available on the HCO’s website in the coming days.
