Signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between HCO and Panteion University

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO). The Memorandum was signed at the offices of the Rectorate of Panteion University in a cordial atmosphere.

The Rector of Panteion University, Professor Christina Koulouri, after welcoming the President, the ac. Director and the executives of the HCO, expressed her keen interest in copyright issues and the need for relevant information and awareness-raising among students and professors, while she referred to the importance that Panteion University attaches to social issues, such as gender-based violence, gender equality, discrimination, students with print disabilities, etc.

On behalf of the HCO, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Emeritus Professor Mr. Panagiotis Tsiris, praised the importance of the cooperation between Panteion University and the HCO, anticipating a good collaboration for the benefit of their general scientific activity through the exchange of experiences and know-how.

Ms. Maria Daphne Papadopoulou, acting Director of HCO, informed the Rector about various actions, initiatives and achievements of the HCO, mentioning, among other things, its responsibilities, while focusing on its educational program copyrightschool.gr, as well as on the intention of the HCO to extend it to higher education through targeted collaborations. Ms Papadopoulou also referred to the HCO’s timestamping online service (timestamp.gr), for the purpose of facilitating all authors to obtain a certain date as regards as the existence of their works. Moreover Ms Papadopoulou referred as well as to the work of the Committee for the Notification of Copyright and Related Rights Infringement (EDDPI). Finally, she noted the possibility of cooperation on issues of access to protected works and other protected objects for the blind, visually impaired and people with other print disabilities.

The memorandum of cooperation between HCO and Panteion University includes joint actions such as:

  • the joint organization of scientific conferences and other related events to highlight issues of intellectual property and related rights
  • the internship of senior or postgraduate students of Panteion University at the HCO
  • the holding of lectures/seminars by HCO executives at Panteion University in the context of undergraduate or postgraduate courses or other events of Panteion University
  • the participation of faculty members and students of Panteion University in the scientific events of the HCO Organization of scientific conferences and events on intellectual property issues
