The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Hellenic Copyright Organization and the Hellenic Industrial Organization are organizing a seminar for training teachers on intellectual property (IP) in education in cooperation with the PEKES of Crete. The training will take place on May 15th 2024 in Heraklion, Crete (Chamber of Heraklion Prefecture, Koroneou 9).
Judgment of the Court in Case C-470/21
On 30/04/2024 a judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union was published in which it ruled that a national public authority responsible for combating infringements of intellectual property rights committed via the Internet may have access to identification information from an IP address.
The biennial World Intellectual Property Report “Making Innovation Policy Work for Development” documents a recent resurgence in industrial policy making, including in many developing and least developed countries, aimed at ensuring a wide and growing economic structure base – and the innovation, creativity and technology required to achieve it.
HCO Actions in 2023
The European Commission receives scientific advice on the adoption of artificial intelligence in research and innovation. The Scientific Advisory Mechanism has published its independent policy recommendations on how to facilitate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research and innovation across the EU. The opinion is non-binding but can feed into the Commission’s overall AI strategy intelligence in research and innovation.
Copyright Infrastructure Task Force
The Digital Infrastructure Working Group on Intellectual Property is an EU-level multinational program created at the initiative of Finland. It currently consists of representatives of 12 countries BE, CZ, DE, EL, ES, FI, FR, HU, IT, LT, LV, MT, either as members or observers, and by the Commission and is open to all States members of the EU. Greece is a member of the Working Group as an Observer from April 2024.
The scientific event organized by the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) in cooperation with the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the framework of their Memorandum of Cooperation, was held on April 23, 2024 with great success.
