On November 14th 2022 a Schedule Agreement has been signed between the HCO and the “INFORMATION SOCIETY S.A. (IS S.A.)” with the Ministry Of Culture and Sport as the Funding Body, with the aim of strengthening the structure and in particular the technological infrastructure of the Committee for the Notification of Copyright and Related Rights Infringement on the Internet, a Committee which operates within the framework of the HCO, so that it can carry out the task of combatting piracy more quickly and effectively, among others by simplifying the complaints, control and reporting procedures.
The project, with a budget of 800,000.00 euros excluding VAT, will be implemented through a technical study, adoption of IT applications, development of a platform or even development of new software, which will contribute to improving the effectiveness of the existing framework to combat online piracy. The “Combatting Internet Piracy” project, with a total funding of approximately 1.2 million euros, is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Axis: “Modernization and improvement of the resilience of the main sectors of the country’s economy”, approved by a Decision of the Council of the European Union.
