On October 9, 2023, a conference entitled “Stepping up the fight against online piracy of sport and other live events” was successfully held in Alicante, which was co-organized by the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the European Commission.
The act. Director of the HCO, Ms. Maria Dafne Papadopoulou and Ms Eva Moustaka represented Greece. Ms Maria Dafne Papadopoulou presented the latest developments in the Greek legal framework regarding the fight against online piracy and in particular live blocking injunctions, and Ms. Eva Moustaka, HCO Lawyer, also participated with a speech.
The main challenges and means of dealing with online piracy of live events were discussed, as well as recent developments in online piracy affecting other types of content.
On 10 October, HCO representatives participated in the first meeting of the Network of Public Authorities on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights, created by the EUIPO Observatory, in order to strengthen cooperation between Member States and in particular to exchange information and best practices in these issues but also to finalize the KPIs for the control of the implementation of the recent one. In this meeting, HCO presented the technical details of the EDPPI system.
