Event for the World Intellectual Property Day
On April 26, 2006 an event for the World Intellectual Property Day was held for the first time at the Syntagma METRO station, with OPI’s initiative, for the purpose of public awareness of relevant matters. Several Ministries and Collecting societies participated in this event. The World Intellectual Property Day was celebrated for the first time in 2001, with the collective decision of WIPO’s member-states, for the purpose of increasing the awareness of intellectual property’s important role in everyday life and pointing out the contribution of inventors and authors in the development of society worldwide. April 26th was selected as the celebration date for the World Intellectual Property Day, given that this was the date of WIPO’s foundation and the beginning of its operation (April 26, 1970).
