On February 21, 2023, the annual survey “2023 International IP Index – 11th Edition” of the US Chamber of Commerce, the largest US chamber was published, which concerned to 55 countries including Greece. This research concerns the recording of the comparative results for the national environment of protection of intellectual property rights for 55 countries based on 50 indicators related to the existing legislation, regulations, and enforcement of the law of protection of all intellectual property rights.

On Thursday 23 February 2023, the HCO held a training seminar for the staff of the Athens Festival S.A.
During the visit, the lawyer, scientific associate of the HCO, Ms. Maria G. Sinanidou, gave an introduction to copyright law (copyright and related rights) and the basic principles that govern it. In addition, the main national and EU legislation was presented, as well as issues that arise in practice with regard to ‘registration’, licensing, clearance of rights and, in general, issues useful for the Athens Festival S.A in the creation, production and communication of various types of performances (such as theatre, music, dance), in whatever form they take (live and non-live, hybrid, etc.).
The Ministry of Development and Investments and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs co-organized on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00-14:30 at the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Athens a conference with the participation of academic and research organizations, with the aim of informing Universities, Research Organizations and researchers about the new regime for research at Universities and Spin-offs, according to Law 4864/2021.
The HCO in cooperation with the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on the 14 and 15 February 2023 organized a conference with the title “Recent legislative changes in copyright law: laws 4996/2022 and 4961/2022″.
This year’s theme is “When women enter the universe of intellectual property (IP), we accelerate innovation and creativity and everyone’s a winner”.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is asking for a 90-second video showing why it is important for girls and women to turn to intellectual property and how it can benefit us all.
On February 10th, 2023, the President of the HCO Board of Directors, Mr. P. Tsiris, represented OPI, following a relevant invitation, at the scientific event under the title “Modern Aspects of the impact of EU Law on Commercial Law” organized by the Department of Commercial and Economic Law at the Telloglio Foundation of Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
On February 9, 2023, a workshop under the title: “Copyright for Open Science” Open Access C4OS: A global perspective, was held at the Onasis Foundation. The Hellenic Copyright Organization was represented by the acting Director Mrs. Maria Dafne Papadopoulou as a speaker who cited the EU legal framework to facilitate research through exceptions and limitations.

Two new publications from EUIPO: a) Intellectual Property Infringement and Enforcement – Tech Watch Discussion Paper, 2nd edition and b) Joint Report OECD – EUIPO “Risks of illicit trade in Counterfeits to SMEs”.
On November 14th 2022 a Schedule Agreement has been signed between the HCO and the “INFORMATION SOCIETY S.A. (IS S.A.)” with the Ministry Of Culture and Sport as the Funding Body, with the aim of strengthening the structure and in particular the technological infrastructure of the Committee for the Notification of Copyright and Related Rights Infringement on the Internet, a Committee which operates within the framework of the HCO, so that it can carry out the task of combatting piracy more quickly and effectively, among others by simplifying the complaints, control and reporting procedures.
