On Friday 15 December 2023, students of the English-speaking LL.M. in International and European Legal Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) visited the offices of the HCO. The students were accompanied by Professor Ms. Paraskevi Paparseniou and Lawyer Ms. Pierrina Koriatopoulou.

Artificial Intelligence Act: deal on comprehensive rules for trustworthy AI

On 8 December 2023 a meeting of the European Parliament took place, where MEPs reached a political agreement with the Council, which aims to ensure that fundamental rights, democracy, the rule of law and environmental sustainability are protected from high-risk AI, while strengthening innovation and making Europe a leader in the sector. The rules establish obligations for artificial intelligence based on its potential risks and level of impact.

On Thursday 7 December 2023, the Hellenic Copyright Organization participated online in the 2nd training workshop organized by PEKES Crete for the teachers of the 5th Section Primary Schools of Heraklion, Crete. The workshop with the title “Supporting teachers in the modern primary school” was attended by the teachers of the school units of Analipsis, Gouvon, Gournon, Junior Academy-Herronasios School, Elias, Episkopis, Kokkini Hani, and Hersonissos.

CJEU – Judgment in Case C-201/22 Kopiosto ry v Telia Finland Oyj, interpretation of Article 4 of Directive 2004/48. Collective management organization authorized to grant collective licenses with extended validity.

Kopiosto is a Finnish collective management organization which manages and grants exploitation licenses on behalf of a large number of authors on the basis of authorizations granted to it by those authors. Kopiosto has also been approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture as an organization entrusted with the granting of contractual exploitation licenses for the purpose, inter alia, of retransmitting works included in radio or television broadcasts. Telia operates a cable television network which transmits for public reception the television signal of national free-to-air television stations.
