The Hellenic Copyright Organization will participate in this important event with an exhibition stand, as well as by organizing events and participation in workshops by HCO representatives and simultaneously making available to the public guides and educational materials aimed mainly at elementary, middle school, high school students, as well as teachers and parents.

On 22.03.2023, the Hellenic Copyright Organization, within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation with WIPO, by which OPI became an authorized body of our country (“national contributor”) to the important initiative entitled “WIPO ALERT”, which is part of the WIPO program Building Respect for Intellectual Property Database Project”, participated in the 6th Stakeholders’ Meeting related to the platform.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Chamber of Commerce have created the ‘WIPO IP Diagnostics’ tool with which businesses can better manage their intangible assets.

The Hellenic Competition, Commission (HCC) meeting in Chamber, unanimously held that the declaration of AEPI’s bankruptcy does not per se exclude the capacity of the HCC to impose, after the declaration of bankruptcy, as well as in the course of the bankruptcy proceedings, sanctions for breaches of competition law which relate, as in this case, to a period prior to the declaration of bankruptcy, during which the above undertaking was active and the facts underlying the infringement occurred. However, in view of the current stage of the bankruptcy proceedings, it is estimated that it would be impossible to collect any fine that might be imposed on AEPI pursuant to article 9 par. 1 of Law 703/1977.
On February 21, 2023, the annual survey “2023 International IP Index – 11th Edition” of the US Chamber of Commerce, the largest US chamber was published, which concerned to 55 countries including Greece. This research concerns the recording of the comparative results for the national environment of protection of intellectual property rights for 55 countries based on 50 indicators related to the existing legislation, regulations, and enforcement of the law of protection of all intellectual property rights.
On Thursday 23 February 2023, the HCO held a training seminar for the staff of the Athens Festival S.A.
During the visit, the lawyer, scientific associate of the HCO, Ms. Maria G. Sinanidou, gave an introduction to copyright law (copyright and related rights) and the basic principles that govern it. In addition, the main national and EU legislation was presented, as well as issues that arise in practice with regard to ‘registration’, licensing, clearance of rights and, in general, issues useful for the Athens Festival S.A in the creation, production and communication of various types of performances (such as theatre, music, dance), in whatever form they take (live and non-live, hybrid, etc.).
The Ministry of Development and Investments and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs co-organized on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00-14:30 at the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Athens a conference with the participation of academic and research organizations, with the aim of informing Universities, Research Organizations and researchers about the new regime for research at Universities and Spin-offs, according to Law 4864/2021.
The HCO in cooperation with the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on the 14 and 15 February 2023 organized a conference with the title “Recent legislative changes in copyright law: laws 4996/2022 and 4961/2022″.
