Second success of EDPPI in removing pirated websites from Google search results

The Committee for the Notification of Online Copyright and Related Rights Infringements (EDPPI) has once again succeeded in securing the removal of 50 pirate websites from Google’s search results.

The process was initiated following a relevant decision by EDPPI, which determined that 50 websites were operating unlawfully by infringing related rights in audiovisual works, in violation of Law 2121/1993. Utilizing Google’s “Delisting” mechanism available to competent national administrative authorities, the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) submitted fully documented reports through Google’s Delisting process, successfully making use of the framework provided by the Digital Services Act (DSA).

Google accepted all requests and informed the HCO that the removals had been completed.

This achievement is the outcome of the HCO’s ongoing and systematic efforts to raise awareness among major intermediary service providers regarding the role and responsibilities of EDPPI, the competent administrative authority in Greece for tackling online infringements of copyright and related rights, assisted in its work by the HCO.
