Conference with the title “The Single Market Strategy – Aspects relating to Intellectual Property”

The Industrial Property Organization and the Hellenic Copyright Organization in cooperation with the European Commission organize a conference with the title “The Single Market Strategy-Aspects relating to Intellectual Property” in the premises of the Industrial Property Organization in Marousi on February the 29th, 2016. The conference is addressed to lawyers, innovation consultants for the media, entrepreneurs and the research and scientific community.

Launching of website dedicated to young people and Intellectual Property

The first EU-wide interactive website dedicated to young people and Intellectual Property is launched today. The Ideas Powered site (www.ideaspowered.eu) is supported by the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), the EU’s largest intellectual property agency, acting through the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.

The EU Observatory announced that the Orphan Works database is available online. The database can be accessed here.

The Orphan Works database provides public access to information about orphan works that are contained in the collections of publicly accessible libraries, educational establishments and museums, as well as archives, film or audio heritage institutions and public-service broadcasting organisations established in the Member States.

EU signs Marrakesh Treaty

The European Union signed today in Geneva the Marrakesh Treaty. The Treaty will facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled. It had been negotiated in the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Negotiations concluded on 28 June 2013 in Marrakesh. Since then fifty-one states have signed the Treaty, including four EU Member States.
