On Thursday, October 22nd, the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) organized an educational webinar in cooperation with the 4th Regional Educational Planning Centre of Attica (PEKES) with the title “Copyright and Related Rights. Distance education and sources for legal content”.
The Hellenic Copyright Organization in the framework of the implementation of the co-funded programme by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) titled “Educating youngsters and secondary school teachers about copyright in Greece and Cyprus” launched a social media campaign.

On Monday, the 22nd of June, the Hellenic Copyright Organization coorganized an educational webinar with the title “Copyright and Related Rights. Distance education and sources for legal content” with the Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education (department B) of Athens and the Directorate of Secondary Education of the Cyclades Islands.
We would like to inform you that on June 6th, 2020, the maximum term of operation of the ‘Special Service of Exceptional Rights Management (Eidiki Ypiresia Ektaktis Diaxeiris Dikaiomaton (EYED)’ expired since the two – years’ period of the entrustment to ‘EYED’ of the management of the rights of the authors – former members of ‘AEPI’, following the permanent withdrawal of the operating license of the latter, on the grounds of the relevant Ministerial Decision (Ref. No. ΥΠΠOA/ΓΔΔΥΗΔ/ΔΔΑΔ/ ΤΔΥΕΦ 262844/18408/13772/689 (Official Government Gazette (FEK) Β’ 2085/07.06.2018), was completed.
The Hellenic Copyright Organization on occasion of the celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day (IP Day) participated in a web conference with the title “Distance education and School Reality”. The web conference is organized by the Regional Educational Planning Centre of Western Greece (PEKES) in cooperation with 17 PEKES from the rest of the country.
By the Law No. 4672/2020 (Official Government Gazette Α’ 48/04.03.2020), the Directive (EU) 2017/1564 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 September 2017 on certain permitted uses of certain works and other subject matter protected by copyright and related rights for the benefit of persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print-disabled and amending Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society, had been implemented into the national legal order. Under this Law, Art. 28A of Law No. 2121/1993 (national law on Copyright, Related Rights and Cultural Matters) with the title “Reproduction for the Benefit of Blinds and Deaf-mute” had been replaced, while certain related provisions of the aforementioned legal instrument had been also repealed.

Approval of operation of EDEM
The Ministerial Decision No. ΥΠΠΟΑ/ΓΡΥΠ/66892/1385 has been published in the Official Gazette B 561/ 21.02.2020 which approves the operation of the collective management organization “Music works rigfhtholders’ collective management organization- limited liability cooperative” and the distinctive title “Rightholders’ cooperative EDEM”.
