On September 22, 2023 at 12.00 – 14.00 p.m. the digital event entitled “Intellectual Property and Cultural Heritage” organized by the Hellenic Copyright Organization on the occasion of the celebration of the European Cultural Heritage Days (EHDC), which was officially established as a European program by the Council of Europe in 1991, was successfully carried out, supported by the Commission of the European Union and are dedicated to monuments and their maintenance. It is noted that Greece has been participating since 1996 with the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs as the national coordinator.
This targeted consultation aims at gathering feedback from stakeholders and Member States on the application of the single equitable remuneration right under Article 8(2) of Directive 2006/115/EC on rental and lending rights in the different Member States. It also seeks to gather information and evidence on the consequences of the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in case C-265/19 (the ‘RAAP’ judgment) as well as feedback on the possible impacts of a legislative proposal.
A recently published study by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) provides new data on online piracy in EU Member States. According to the new data, online piracy increased by 3.3% in 2022. This increase is largely due to pirated TV shows, series, movies and manga publications.
The European Heritage Days (EHD) which are a joint action of the Council of Europe and the EU, in which Greece has participated since 1996 with the national coordinator of the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs are celebrated on September 22, 23 and 24.
WIPO presented a global survey on the perception, awareness and attitudes of the general population with respect to intellectual property rights (WIPO Pulse – Global intellectual property perception survey 2023).
The HCO will participate in the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair with speeches that will take place on Wednesday, 13.09.2023, at 19:00 – 20:30 at the Ministry of Culture’s stand (stand 7).
