A scientific event titled “Copyright in the Digital Age” was successfully held on Thursday, 5 March 2026, for the second consecutive year, at the “Sakis Karagiorgas II” Auditorium of Panteion University. The event was organized by staff members of the Hellenic Copyright Organization within the framework of the Memorandum of Educational Cooperation between the HCO and Panteion University.
The event brought together professors, students, and members of the University’s academic Library, who had the opportunity to be informed about issues related to copyright in the contemporary digital era.
Opening remarks were delivered by the Rector of Panteion University, Professor Ch. Koulouri, and the President of the Board of Directors of the HCO and Emeritus Professor of Panteion University, P. Tsiris. The Rector expressed her warm thanks to the President of the HCO, as well as to the Deputy Director and the Organization’s staff for organizing the seminar, which was held for the second consecutive year within the framework of the cooperation between the two institutions, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for further strengthening their collaboration.
During the event, the fundamental principles of copyright were presented through the lens of the contemporary digital ecosystem of culture, public governance, and academic research. The speakers at the event were Maria-Dafni Papadopoulou, LL.D., Deputy Director of the HCO, who presented on “Copyright: Fundamental Principles in the Era of Digital Cultural Governance”; Maria G. Sinanidou, Int. IP LL.M., Lawyer – Scientific Collaborator and Mediator, with a presentation titled “Digitization, Museums, and Open Licenses: From Theory to Practice”; and Eva Moustaka, MA, Lawyer at the HCO, on “Copyright in the Academic Environment: Lawful Use – Lawful Content.”
The event concluded with a constructive discussion with the audience, while certificates of attendance were awarded to the participants.
