The Hellenic Copyright Organization successfully participated in the 9th Innovation & Technology Transfer Exhibition – Patras IQ 2026, which took place on 27, 28 February and 1 March 2026 at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras. The exhibition, established in 2012, has become a leading institution for promoting research, innovation and the connection between academia, entrepreneurship and society.
HCO’s participation in the exhibition’s conference program was highly successful, reaffirming the essential role of intellectual property in research and innovation activities. As part of the thematic session entitled “Innovation and Intellectual Property: Protection and Exploitation,” held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Ms. Maria G. Sinanidou, Attorney-at-Law and Scientific Associate of HCO, delivered a presentation titled “Intellectual Property and Research: Basic Principles and Artificial Intelligence.” During her speech, she outlined the fundamental principles of intellectual property protection in the field of research, with particular emphasis on the challenges and prospects arising from the use of artificial intelligence systems. The panel was moderated by Mr. Panagiotis Tsakanikas, Attorney-at-Law (LL.M. in Public Law), Legal Counsel and Head of the Legal Department of the University of Patras.
The presentation attracted significant interest from members of the academic and research community, business representatives, students and institutional stakeholders, and was followed by a constructive and engaging discussion. Particular attention was given to issues related to the exploitation of research results, rights management, and the importance of timely and effective protection of creative and innovative outputs.
HCO’s presence at Patras IQ 2026 further strengthened its cooperation with the academic and research community and highlighted the contribution of intellectual property as a key pillar of sustainable development, innovation, and competitiveness.
