Intellectual Property Support for Small Businesses – New EU Platform Supporting SMEs on Intellectual Property Matters

The European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN), which consists of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the national intellectual property offices of the EU Member States, and the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property, has announced the launch of a new online platform aimed at supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in intellectual property matters.

The new website is part of the EUIPN’s broader strategy to strengthen innovation, competitiveness, and growth of European SMEs by promoting cooperation with national offices and European programmes.

The platform brings together funding schemes, guidance, and specialised support, with the goal of helping SMEs across the European Union protect, manage, and effectively exploit their intellectual property rights. It functions as a central access point to key European and national services and is available in 23 official EU languages, offering rich educational and informational material from EUIPO and the national offices.

Among other features, the platform includes:

  • IP Scan Online: an online tool providing an initial assessment of the role of intellectual property in a company’s business strategy

  • Guides: detailed guides explaining the different aspects of intellectual property and how to make use of them

  • Events: information on upcoming workshops, webinars, and other activities

  • Learning Centre: educational modules and resources

  • News and Articles: current developments, practical advice, and easy-to-understand analyses

  • Contact Points: access to national intellectual property offices and professional support
