On Monday, 19 January 2026, a Memorandum of Educational Cooperation was signed in a cordial atmosphere between the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO), during a meeting held at EPLO’s offices in Plaka. The Memorandum inaugurates an important collaboration aimed, among other things, at the exchange of know-how and the development of joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
The President of the Board of Directors and Director of EPLO, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, after welcoming the President of the Board of Directors of HCO, Mr Panagiotis Tsiris, the acting Director, Ms Maria-Daphne Papadopoulou, and HCO executives Ms Maria Sinanidou and Ms Maria Rapti, emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two organizations, expressing his confidence that the Memorandum of Cooperation will serve as a foundation for fruitful joint initiatives.
He briefly presented EPLO’s work, noting that it was founded in 2007 in Athens and that it is an international organization focusing on the promotion of European values, as well as on the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Public Law lato sensu and Governance. Among other areas, it focuses on national, comparative and European public law, human rights law and environmental law, with the aim of fostering a new, better generation of legal scholars and democratic institutions worldwide, within a spirit of dialogue among civilizations.
Also participating in the signing of the Memorandum were Ms Vasiliki Lykoura, General Director of Management, Mr Giannis Politis, General Director and Press Representative, Ms Panoraia Spiliopoulou, General Director of Education, Mr Patroklos Georgiadis, Special Advisor to the Director and Coordinator of EPLO’s Institutes, Mr Panos Kalogeropoulos, Ambassador ad honorem and Head of the Office of International Relations and Protocol, Ms Sandra Manoudaki, Marketing Director, Ms Katia Stamatékou, Legal Advisor to the Organization and Ms Alexia Eastwood, Communications Officer.
The President of the Board of Directors of HCO, Mr Panagiotis Tsiris, and the acting Director of HCO, after thanking EPLO for the warm welcome, highlighted the importance of HCO’s cooperation with an internationally recognized organization such as EPLO, as well as the prospects it opens up for strengthening HCO’s institutional role and outward orientation.
Furthermore, Ms Papadopoulou, underlined the importance of cooperation with EPLO, expressing expectations for a fruitful joint course based on the exchange of experience and expertise. Within the framework of cooperation between the two organizations, provisions include, among others, the co-organization of training seminars, workshops and scientific events; the joint organization of a summer school, possibly in cooperation with other bodies; and the exploration of new areas of collaboration and opportunities for joint participation in national and European programmes. Ms Papadopoulou also presented HCO’s activities and initiatives, placing particular emphasis on the educational programme copyrightschool.gr and its strategy for expansion into higher education. She also highlighted the importance of the digital services timestamp.gr and the crucial work of the EDPPΙ in addressing online infringements of intellectual property rights.
