Lecture at the University of Patras by the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO)

Following the signing of the Educational Cooperation Memorandum between the University of Patras and the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) on December 4, 2025 at the Rector’s Office, a scientific lecture titled “Copyright in the Academic Community” took place in the University’s Ceremony Hall.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Iason Fotilas, who delivered a welcome address.

The lecture brought together professors, students, and members of the University Library, offering them the opportunity to be informed about contemporary issues related to intellectual property. It aimed to promote understanding and dialogue on copyright and related rights, the lawful use of works within the educational process, and the importance of safeguarding creativity.

presented the fundamental principles of intellectual property, the exceptions and limitations applicable to educational institutions, as well as current challenges concerning Copyright and Artificial Intelligence.

The audience engaged actively with questions, demonstrating strong interest in the topics discussed. The collaboration between the University of Patras and HCO will continue within the framework of the newly signed Memorandum, through upcoming seminars and activities designed to further enhance knowledge exchange and raise awareness on intellectual property matters.
