On Thursday, December 4, 2025, a Memorandum of Educational Cooperation was signed in a warm and collaborative atmosphere between the University of Patras and the Hellenic Copyright Organization, during a meeting held at the offices of the University’s Rectorate.
The Rector of the University of Patras, Professor C. Bouras, welcomed the acting Director and the HCO team, emphasizing his strong interest in intellectual property issues and the need to raise awareness among both students and faculty members. He also highlighted the University’s strategic initiatives to enhance its international outreach and attract foreign students.
The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Finance, Mr. I. Venetis, also welcomed the HCO representatives, expressing his confidence that this new cooperation will prove mutually beneficial for both institutions. Ms. Katerina Papadopoulou, Lawyer at the University of Patras Legal Service department, was also present and warmly received the HCO team.
On behalf of HCO, acting Director Ms. Maria Dafne Papadopoulou stressed the importance of the collaboration with the University of Patras, expressing her expectations for a fruitful partnership based on the exchange of expertise and know-how. Ms. Papadopoulou presented HCO’s activities and initiatives, highlighting the copyrightschool.gr educational program and its expansion into higher education. She also emphasized the importance of digital services such as timestamp.gr and the crucial work of the Committee for the Notification of Online Intellectual Property Infringements (EDPPI).
The Memorandum of Cooperation provides, among other initiatives:
• Joint organization of scientific conferences and events on intellectual property topics
• Internship opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Patras at HCO
• Lectures and seminars delivered by HCO staff within academic courses and activities
• Participation of faculty members and students in scientific events and initiatives of HCO
This collaboration strengthens the dialogue between the academic community and the institutional protection of intellectual creation, paving the way for new educational and research synergies.
Following the signing, the Educational Cooperation Memorandum was inaugurated with a scientific lecture delivered by HCO staff, which took place in the Ceremonial Hall of the University of Patras.
