Seminar for teachers on “Copyright in Our Lives”
With strong engagement and participation from educators, the first in a series of three events on “Copyright in Our Lives” took place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in Epirus. The event was organized by the Directorate of Primary Education of Arta, in collaboration with the HCO, the E.VI.E., and the Holy Metropolis of Arta.
The seminar “Museums of the Future and Copyright: Preservation of and access to cultural heritage in the age of AI” took place successfully on 7 October 2025 at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens.
The Bartz v. Anthropic case began in 2024, when authors Andrea Bartz, Charles Graeber, and Kirk Wallace Johnson filed a class-action lawsuit against the artificial intelligence company Anthropic. The plaintiffs alleged that the company collected over 7 million pirated books from websites such as LibGen and Books3 and used them to train the Claude AI system, violating copyright law.
The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission (DG Connect) recently launched the program “Awareness raising on copyright for cultural heritage, educational and Research Institutions.”
The Hellenic Copyright Organization and the Knowledge Rights 21 Program are co-organizing a scientific conference entitled “Research and Intellectual Property Law,” with the support of the Industrial Property Organization (OBI) and the Collective Management Organization for Literary Works (OSDEL) and under the auspices of the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
