The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has recently launched the new thematic section “Knowledge and Cultural Institutions Corner” as part of its Copyright Knowledge Centre.
The Copyright Knowledge Centre is a European initiative aimed at collecting and disseminating reliable information on copyright and related intellectual property matters. Through this platform, users can access educational resources, practical guides, studies, tools, and other useful materials that support the understanding and application of intellectual property legislation.
The new section is primarily intended for museums, libraries, archives, educational and research institutions, as well as professionals in the cultural sector. Its objective is to facilitate the management of copyright issues related to the preservation, digitisation, accessibility, and use of cultural heritage.
The section hosts resources from various European Union Member States, including materials from Greece, such as presentations developed in the context of the event “Museums of the Future and Copyright: Preservation of and Access to Cultural Heritage in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, which was co-organised by the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) and the European Commission in October 2025.
The Hellenic Copyright Organization welcomes the establishment of this new initiative, which contributes to promoting knowledge and raising awareness of intellectual property issues at the European level, while strengthening cooperation among cultural, educational, and research institutions across the Member States.
