Scientific lecture at the Athens School of Fine Arts

On Friday, April 24, 2026, the Hellenic Copyright Organization  delivered a scientific lecture at the Athens School of Fine Arts, following an invitation by Ms. Maria Chatzi, Member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) at the Department of Theory and History of Art.

The event formed part of HCO’s broader initiative to expand its educational activities in higher education, aiming to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness of copyright issues.

The lecture was delivered by Ms. Maria Daphne Papadopoulou, Acting Director of HCO, who introduced students to the fundamental principles and practical aspects of copyright. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining legal theory with practical examples, key issues directly relevant to the fields of art and culture were highlighted, including the protection of artworks, creators’ rights, digital cultural heritage, and the role of museums within the contemporary copyright environment.

During the seminar, numerous questions were addressed to Ms. Papadopoulou, and the discussion that followed proved particularly engaging, demonstrating the active participation and strong interest of the students. The seminar was addressed to both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the METHISTE Programme, fostering meaningful dialogue between legal thinking and artistic practice.

As part of their visit, HCO representatives also had the opportunity to tour the workshops of the Athens School of Fine Arts, gaining first-hand insight into the educational and artistic work carried out within the institution.
