  • Joint Report OECD - EUIPO “Risks of illicit trade in Counterfeits to SMEs”

Study on the risks of counterfeit trade for small and medium-sized enterprises. The report analyses the economic impact of counterfeit trade and other types of intellectual property rights infringements on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It also provides a deeper analysis of this threat in the EU context. SMEs play an important role in most economies. In Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, they constitute the majority of enterprises and account for around two-thirds of total employment. Although the use of IPR among SMEs is relatively low, innovative SMEs report higher rates of IPR ownership, as they actively seek ways to improve existing products, services and business processes.
